Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world-to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” – John 18:37

Piss off Libs

December 25, 2015

You know who they are. They’re siblings who believed their professors in college. They’re in-laws you can do nothing about. They are “friends” who secretly think you are a mindless, evil philistine.
These liberals love to ruin your dinner with sanctimony and moral superiority. Well, on the theory that the best defense is a good offense, here are 12 things you can say to pre-empt the inevitable attack.
1: Did you know that the earth hasn’t really warmed for almost 20 years?
2: So, how much did your health insurance premiums go up this year?
3: Would you mind if 20 young, male Syrian refugees moved into a rooming house next door to you and your children?
4: What’s worse, an 18-minute gap in a tape recording or 30,000 missing emails?
5: How’s the Obama presidency been working out for black Americans?
6: Donald Trump is worth $4 billion. How much are you worth?
7: Who’s smarter, you or Ted Cruz?
8: What are you doing “owning” on land that belongs to Native Americans?
9: How’s that whole hopey-changey thing working out now?
10: Did you know that the immigration enforcement authorities removed 76,000 criminals apprehended at or near the border or other points of entry this year?
11. Would you rather experience a terrorist attack in a place that allows concealed carry or one that doesn’t?
12. Merry Christmas!

Quote of the Day

December 19, 2015

As my grandmother always told me when I was growing up, “Stuff equals decisions, and decisions equal stress. Get rid of the stuff, and you’ll get rid of the stress.”
Grandmothers are never wrong. (Except for maybe that one time they told you biting your fingernails would make your stomach explode.) The more you eliminate from life, the more emotionally free you’ll feel.

Sleep

December 15, 2015

By Joe Carter

When people would ask if I had any hobbies, I used to reply, “Just one: Napping.” But this year that turned out not to be a joke.
Every day after work, instead of spending time with my family, I’d take a two-hour nap. Even then, I’d still be exhausted, so I’d sleep late on Saturday and take as many naps as I could on the weekend. That only made it worse. I was so constantly fatigued that my wife wanted me to see a doctor to determine whether I had an undiagnosed condition like seasonal affective disorder (SAD), or winter depression.
I didn’t need a physician, though, to tell me what I had was a chronic history of poor sleep habits. When I was younger I could often get by (with sufficient doses of caffeine), but now I could no longer ignore the problem.
My poor sleep hygiene was affecting my family, my work, and my physical health. And it was also affecting me spiritually.
Sleep as Spiritual Discipline
In the Psalms, David shows that peaceful sleep is an act of trust and a sign of humility. “I lie down and sleep,” said David, “I wake again, because the Lord sustains me” (Ps 3:5–6). He also said, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Ps 4:8). Getting a good night’s rest shows that we know God is in control and will watch over us when we are at our most vulnerable.
Sleep is a sign of trust and humility. But it’s also a spiritual discipline. As D.A. Carson says,
Sometimes the godliest thing you can do in the universe is get a good night’s sleep—not pray all night, but sleep. I’m certainly not denying that there may be a place for praying all night; I’m merely insisting that in the normal course of things, spiritual discipline obligates you get the sleep your body need.
Like most spiritual disciplines, to be most effective sleep requires both a change in attitude and a change in habits. Here are a few things I learned and practical steps I’ve taken to better develop the spiritual activity of rest:
Get enough sleep — There are a number of factors that affect the quality of your rest, the most important being how long you sleep each night.
The amount of sleep a person needs varies from individual to individual and changes over the course of their lifetime. But if you’re like most people, chances are you’re not getting adequate sleep to be fully rested.
Here is the average number of hours of sleep, based on age, a person needs every day:
Six to 13 years of age: nine to 11 hours
14 to 17 years of age: eight to 10 hours
18 to 25 years of age: seven to nine hours
26 to 64 years of age: seven to nine hours
65 and older: seven to eight hours
The amount of sleep you need is largely due to your genetic makeup—it’s out of your control. Statistically speaking, you’re likely not in the group who can get away with less sleep. So stop kidding yourself into thinking you can function with less and schedule the amount of sleep you really need.
Avoid blue light at night — Your body has a natural clock, known as its circadian rhythm, that affects when you fall asleep and when you wake up. It’s your circadian rhythm that tells your body when to produce the hormone melatonin. Melatonin levels begin to rise in the mid- to late evening, to prepare you for sleep. The levels remain high for most of the night, and then drop in the early morning hours, just before waking.
One factor that can disrupt melatonin levels is light, especially light in the blue wavelength region of the spectrum. As Harvard University neuroscientist Anne-Marie Chan explains, “Past studies have shown that light suppresses melatonin, such that light in the early evening causes a circadian delay, or resets the clock to a later schedule; and light in the early morning causes a circadian advancement, or resets the clock to an earlier schedule.”
Guess what sends a lot of blue-light directly into your eyes and to your brain? That’s right, all the devices you love to use before bedtime: smartphones and tablets, laptops and televisions. When you use those blue-light emitting electronics before bedtime, your brain gets the message, “Turn off the melatonin, the sun is rising and it’s time to wake up!”
The obvious fix would be to avoid using those devices before bedtime. But that’s not always an option. Fortunately, there are a couple of things you can do limit your exposure.
If you use a laptop or desktop computer at night, download and add the free software f.lux. This program makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
A more broad-based solution is to use blue-light blocking safety glasses. Whenever I’m in bed and watching TV or reading my iPad, I wear a pair of Uvex S1933X Skyper Safety Eyewear. They are cheap ($8.52 from Amazon) and relatively comfortable. Because they filter out blue colors, they can change the color of your screen if you’re watching television. But they are one of the best sleep tools I’ve found.
(Isn’t it a bit silly to be wearing safety goggles in bed? Yes. Yes, it is. But I’m not going to stop reading books on my iPad at bedtime, so having people make fun of me is a small price to pay.)
Block out the other light too — Unfortunately, blue light is not the only light that will affect your melatonin levels. The light coming in from you bedroom from outside—streetlamps, car lights, the moon—can also affect your sleep. Ideally, your room needs to be as dark as possible, which is why you should consider adding blackout curtains to your windows. They are relatively inexpensive and can be found both online or at any retail store that sells curtains, shades, and drapes. Choose one that has the highest blocking potential, preferably at least 99.9 percent of light and 100 percent of UV rays
If blackout curtains aren’t an option, consider wearing a sleep mask. The cheap ones (like you get on airplanes) are rarely comfortable or effective, so it’s worth it to buy one that fits properly. The best one I’ve found is the Sleep Master Sleep Mask. It covers the eyes completely and has a Velcro strap that makes it fit firmly (which is helpful when you have a basketball-sized head like mine). At $25.90, it’s a bit pricey. But it can last you for decades and will pay for itself within a month of restful nights. (One drawback is that it’s made of satin, a material that doesn’t breathe well. This can make your head warmer than normal, so it’s not recommended if your bedroom is hot and humid.)
Keep Your Cool — When it comes to sleep, temperature matters. As a rule of thumb, you want your head to be cool (that’s why you’re always looking for the cool side of the pillow) and your body relatively warm. (If you suffer from “hot head,” you may want to try using a cooling pillow or a cooling cap. I haven’t tried either so I don’t know what products to suggest.)
You can usually achieve both states by setting your room temperature at 65 degrees (though I prefer 60). If that sounds too cool for comfort, keep in mind that with pajamas, a sheet, and a blanket, your skin temperature is likely to be in the 90-degree range even if your room is only 65 degrees.
Get the best bedding you can afford — While a basic model car may be adequate for our daily commute, many Americans will spend tens of thousands of dollars extra for comfort (e.g., plushier seats, more headroom). These same people, though, often grouse at the idea of spending even a few hundred dollars on a quality mattress, bedding, or pillows—even though they spend four times as much time in their beds as their vehicles.
Not everyone can afford Egyptian cotton and costlier doesn’t necessarily mean better quality (forget what you’ve heard about “thread count”). But if you have disposable income to spend on non-essential goods, invest in your bedding. At the very least, save your pennies and buy a top-of-the line pillow. (I saved my allowance and I got a Palais Royale™ Pinnacle Goose Down Side Sleeper for $65 on clearance. Money well spent.)
Put a time limit on the alcohol and caffeine — Alcohol can disrupt you sleep patterns so avoid drinking it too late in the evening. I don’t drink alcohol myself, but I more than make up for it in my consumption of Diet Coke. I used to drink Diet Coke from morning until evening, and wouldn’t think twice about drinking it at midnight (though I tried to refrain from consuming it after 2:30 am).
For some reason I had convinced myself that the caffeine I consumed would be “out of my system” within 30 minutes of drinking it. I was wrong—very wrong. As Travis Bradberry explains,
Caffeine has a six-hour half-life, which means it takes a full twenty-four hours to work its way out of your system. Have a cup of joe at eight a.m., and you’ll still have 25% of the caffeine in your body at eight p.m. Anything you drink after noon will still be at 50% strength at bedtime. Any caffeine in your bloodstream—with the negative effects increasing with the dose—makes it harder to fall asleep.
I was constantly adding caffeine to my system—including before napping and within an hour of going to sleep at night. No wonder I couldn’t rest!
Nowadays, I’ve stopped drinking caffeine after 2-3 pm. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s a start.
Plan to go to bed and wake up at a regular time — For most of my adult life, my “bedtime” was whatever time it was when my I was too exhausted to do work/watch movies/read books, etc. My wake up time, though, was relatively consistent since it depended on when I had to be at work. You can see how that math wouldn’t work out.
I would tell myself that I could “catch up” by sleeping late on Saturdays. But that only made it worse since our circadian clocks do not have a setting marked “Weekend.” All I was doing was throwing my sleep patterns further out of whack and creating the same effect on my body as having jet lag.
Nowadays I have a set time to go to bed and a set time to wake up that is consistent throughout the week. It wasn’t easy, but I found the time restriction forces me to prioritize my time better so that I’m not merely staying up till 4 am checking Facebook or binge-watching shows on Netflix.
You Know This Stuff; Just Do It Already
Chances are that you know about many or all of these ideas already. I did too. But as Samuel Johnson once said, “People need to be reminded more often than they need to be instructed.” Take this as a reminder to try some (or preferably all) of these tips in order to improve your bedtime habits.
Show God you trust him and are a good steward of his resources by deciding to do more to get a good night’s sleep.

Buy More Guns

December 15, 2015

“Under socialism it is most important component to centralize everything, to take over local control”
She warna all of us to make sure we keep our guns…and buy more.

The Nazification of the United States is almost complete. From dramatically increasing government spending, to raising taxes to colossal levels to the consolidation of almost everything under a central authority, Hitler’s Germany and our current America are completely parallel.
#1 Nazi Germany was a totalitarian Big Brother police state that constantly monitored everything that German citizens did.
Today, the bureaucrats that run things in the United States are also absolutely obsessed with constantly trying to monitor us. For example, there are now control freaks that inspect the lunches of preschool students in certain areas of the country in order to make sure that they contain the “right” foods….
A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because the school told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.
The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the person who was inspecting all lunch boxes in the More at Four classroom that day.
The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs – including in-home day care centers – to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.
#2 Nazi officials often used their positions of power to force others to do dehumanizing things.
This is exactly what the TSA is doing today. It would be really easy to imagine some Nazi military officers forcing a young woman to walk back and forth in front of them several times so that they could admire her form. Well, that is what TSA agents are doing to American women today. The following comes from a recent Wired article….
TSA agents in Dallas singled out female passengers to undergo screening in a body scanner, according to complaints filed by several women who said they felt the screeners intentionally targeted them to view their bodies.
One woman who flew out of Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport several months ago said a female agent sent her through a body scanner three times after the agent commented on her “cute” body.
#3 In Nazi Germany, even women and children were treated like dehumanized cattle.
Well, today schoolchildren are being strip-searched all over the United States. Down in Georgia, one student was recently strip-searched by public school officials after another student falsely accused him of having marijuana.
Another student down in Albuquerque was recently forced to strip down to his underwear while five adults watched because he had $200 in his pocket. The student was never formally charged with doing anything wrong.
#4 In Nazi Germany, authorities could stop you and search you at any time and for any reason.
In America that is not supposed to happen, but it is happening. Last year, TSA “VIPR teams” conducted approximately 8,000 “unannounced security screenings” at subway stations, bus terminals, seaports and highway rest stops.
If you are not able to produce “your papers”, there is a good chance that you will get thrown into prison in America. For example, a 21-year-old college student named Samantha Zucker was recently arrested and put in a New York City jail for 36 hours just because she could not produce any identification for police.
#5 Under Adolf Hitler, there were massive increases in government spending.
According to eyewitness Kitty Werthmann, just about everyone was getting some sort of a handout from the German government….
Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.
Of course, as I have written about so many times before, this is the exact same thing that we are seeing in the United States today.
#6 Under Hitler, taxes were raised dramatically in order to pay for all of these social programs.
Kitty Werthmann says that “our tax rates went up to 80% of our income.”
In the United States our tax rates have not gotten that bad yet, but when you total up all federal taxes, all state taxes, all local taxes, all property taxes and all sales taxes, there are a significant number of Americans that do pay more than 50% of their incomes in taxes.
#7 The economy of Nazi Germany was very highly socialized.
As Ludwig Von Mises once correctly observed, the German economy under Hitler was not capitalist at all….
What Mises identified was that private ownership of the means of production existed in name only under the Nazis and that the actual substance of ownership of the means of production resided in the German government. For it was the German government and not the nominal private owners that exercised all of the substantive powers of ownership: it, not the nominal private owners, decided what was to be produced, in what quantity, by what methods, and to whom it was to be distributed, as well as what prices would be charged and what wages would be paid, and what dividends or other income the nominal private owners would be permitted to receive. The position of the alleged private owners, Mises showed, was reduced essentially to that of government pensioners.
The United States has not gotten to the level of Nazi Germany yet, but we do have a socialist president and back in 2009 the cover of Newsweek boldly proclaimed that “We Are All Socialists Now“.
#8 In Nazi Germany, if you conducted business outside of the socialist paradigm you were heavily punished.
Well, the same thing is happening in the United States today. For example, the FDA has been running elaborate entrapment schemes that are designed to entrap producers of raw milk. Any “unauthorized commerce” is dealt with very strictly by the U.S. government these days.
#9 In Nazi Germany, government regulation of business got wildly out of control.
The following is eyewitness testimony from Kitty Werthmann….
My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn’t meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business.
If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.
We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the live-stock, then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.
Of course we all know about all of the ridiculous regulations that the U.S. government is burdening businesses with today. In every day and age control freaks love to stick it to business people that are just trying to make a living.
#10 Under Hitler, free market capitalism was absolutely hated.
National Socialist theologian Gregor Strasser once stated the following….
We National Socialists are enemies, deadly enemies, of the present capitalist system with its exploitation of the economically weak … and we are resolved under all circumstances to destroy this system.
And as I have written about previously, a lot of Barack Obama’s strongest supporters are socialists and communists, and an increasing number of Americans are showing disdain for capitalism. In fact, some recent polls show that young adults in America actually have a more favorable view of socialism than they do of capitalism.
#11 In Nazi Germany, the health care system was taken over by the government.
The following is more eyewitness testimony from Kitty Werthmann….
Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna . After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stopped, so the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.
Of course we all know what is going on in America today. The government spends nearly half of all health care dollars and Obamacare is going to mean more government control over the health care system than ever before.
#12 Under Adolf Hitler, abortion was made “safe and legal” in Germany.
It turns out that Hitler was a huge fan of the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger. And as I wrote about recently, it was Sanger that once said the following….
“The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”
Hitler echoed this sentiment when he wrote the following in Mein Kampf….
“The demand that defective people be prevented from propagating equally defective offspring. . . represents the most humane act of mankind.”
After the Nazis came to power in 1933, abortion was very quickly legalized. By 1935 there were approximately 500,000 abortions being performed in Germany every single year.
Yes, Hitler very much encouraged Aryan women to have as many children as possible. But he also very much viewed abortion as a way to reduce “undesirable” populations.
Unfortunately, something very similar is happening today. Abortion clinics are often located in the “poor” part of town, and a staggering 72 percent of Planned Parenthood’s “customers” have incomes that are either equal to or beneath 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
#13 In Nazi Germany, killing the “defective”, the “weak” and the “disabled” was considered to be a good thing because it made the German people “stronger”.
Unfortunately, many in America today have fully embraced the eugenics principles which were so dominant in Nazi Germany.
A 3 year old girl named Amelia was recently denied a kidney transplantbecause she is considered to be “mentally retarded”, and we all remember what happened to Terri Schiavo.
Not only that, the editorial page editor of the Detroit News recently proposed putting contraceptives into the drinking water in Michigan because the state has become a “breeding ground for poverty“.
This kind of sick thinking is rapidly spreading in America, and that is a very frightening thing.
#14 In Nazi Germany, education was nationalized and God was kicked out of the schools.
The following is more eyewitness testimony from Kitty Werthmann….
Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler’s picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn’t pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles, and had physical education.
Unfortunately, the exact same thing is happening to U.S. public schools.
#15 Under Adolf Hitler, God was mocked and religion was pushed out of every corner of public life.
Just check out the following information uncovered by author Bruce Walker….
The Nazi tract Gott und Volk was distributed in 1941, and it describes the life cycle of German youth in the future, who would: “With parties and gifts the youth will be led painlessly from one faith to the other and will grow up without ever having heard of the Sermon on the Mount or the Golden Rule, to say nothing of the Ten Commandments… The education of the youth is to be confined primarily by the teacher, the officer, and the leaders of the party. The priests will die out. They have estranged the youth from the Volk. Into their places will step the leaders. Not deputies of God. But anyway the best Germans. And how shall we train our children? Thus, as though they had never heard of Christianity!”
Once again, this parallels what we are seeing happen in America today. Last year, a high school student in Southern California was suspended for two days because he had private conversations with his classmates during which he discussed Christianity. He was also banned from bringing his Bible to school ever again.
For many more examples of this phenomenon, please see this article: “18 Examples Of How Christians Are Being Specifically Targeted By Big Brother“.
#16 Adolf Hitler fully embraced the theory of evolution, and Darwinism provided the intellectual foundation for much of Nazism.
At a Nazi Party rally in Nuremberg in 1933, Hitler declared that “higher race subjects to itself a lower race . . .a right which we see in nature and which can be regarded as the sole conceivable right“.
Hitler was obsessed with the “survival of the fittest” and he took this theory to its logical extremes. The following is how one author put it….
“Hitler was influenced above all by the theories of the nineteenth-century social Darwinist school, whose conception of man as biological material was bound up with impulses towards a planned society. He was convinced that the race was disintegrating, deteriorating through faulty breeding as a result of a liberally tinged promiscuity that was vitiating the nation’s blood. And this led to the establishment of a catalogue of ‘positive’ curative measures: racial hygiene, eugenic choice of marriage partners, the breeding of human beings by the methods of selection on the one hand and extirpation on the other”
But of course we have no problem with teaching this flawed theory to our children in the public schools of America today.
Haven’t we learned anything from history?
#17 Under Adolf Hitler, the state started taking over the job of child care.
The following is more eyewitness testimony from Kitty Werthmann….
When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. You could take your children ages 4 weeks to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, 7 days a week, under the total care of the government. The state raised a whole generation of children. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology.
Of course this is exactly what is happening in America today. Children are raised by day care centers and public schools, and most parents spend very little time with their own children.
#18 In Nazi Germany, it became fashionable to mock Christians and the Christian faith.
The following is more from author Bruce Walker….
By 1935, the virulently anti-Christian leader of the Hitler Youth, Baldur von Shirach issued a regulation that prohibited any child from belonging simultaneously to a church youth group and the Hitler Youth, and gradually membership in the Hitler Youth became almost obligatory – parents were told that their children would not get jobs in the civil service unless they belonged to the Hitler Youth and employers were told not to hire children who did not belong to the Hitler Youth. Christian schoolchildren who did not belong to the Hitler Youth or its female counterpart were routinely beaten up by young Nazi thugs.
Boys inducted into the Hitler Youth were required to explicitly reject Christianity by oaths like this: “German blood and Christian baptismal water are completely incompatible.” At Hitler Youth center at Halle, was the following prominent statement: “The Faith fanatics, who still to-day slide down on their knees with faces uplifted to heaven, waste their time in churchgoing and prayers, and have not yet understood that they are living on the earth and that therefore their task is of a thoroughly earthly kind. All we Hitler people can still only look with the greatest contempt on those young people who still run to their silly Evangelical or Catholic Churches in order to vent their quite superstitious religious feelings.”
Those that believe that the Nazis embraced Christianity are delusional. The following are direct quotes out of Hitler Youth training manuals….
“Christianity is a religion of slaves and fools.”
“How did Christ die? Whining at the Cross!”
“The Ten Commandments represent the lowest instincts of man.”
“Christianity is merely a cloak for Judaism.”
This is definitely where things are going in America today. Our television shows and our movies regularly mock Christians and they are always portrayed as the “bad guys”.
In addition, the name of Jesus is rapidly becoming a forbidden word. Some U.S. courts have even ruled that it is unconstitutional to use the name of “Jesus Christ” during any official government meeting. The following comes from a recent WorldNetDaily article….
But the American Civil Liberties Union and Americans United for Separation of Church and State are standing by their victory in a U.S. circuit court decision that states even “a solitary reference to Jesus Christ” in invocations before the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners’ meetings could do “violence to the pluralistic and inclusive values that are a defining feature of American public life.”
#19 Under Adolf Hitler, sexual promiscuity was actually encouraged.
The following is more eyewitness testimony from Kitty Werthmann….
My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn’t do that and she told me that someday when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun no sports, and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn’t exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.
Of course the exact same thing is happening in America today. If you doubt that your tax dollars are going to promote sexual promiscuity, then I have a video for you to watch. It is a video from the American Life League, and you can view itright here. DO NOT let any children watch this video. It is done by a pro-life organization but it is very graphic. I have posted a link to it because it isimperative that parents understand what is really going on out there. But please be warned that it is very, very graphic.
#20 Once the Nazis took power, they rapidly implemented gun control legislation and later on they took all of the guns away from the populace.
Kitty Werthmann remembers very well what happened in Austria under the Nazis….
Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long after-wards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.
Last year, more than 10 million guns were sold in the United States, but gun control legislation continues to become even more strict, and it is only a matter of time before the federal government tries to disarm the U.S. population completely.
#21 Under the Nazis, large numbers of children were taken away from good families.
The following is more from author Bruce Walker….
Parents who resisted Nazi anti-Christian indoctrination too strongly simply had their children taken away from them. The Nazis even forbade parents to give their children Christian names and ordered babies instead to be given names like Dietrich, Otto or Siegfried. The home teaching of Christianity by parents in the home was forbidden. Not content with simply driving Christianity out of public schools, Himmler banned all Confessing Church seminaries and instruction in 1937 and he closed all private religious schools two years later.
Doesn’t this sound exactly like where America is headed?
In many states, CPS (“child protective services”) has become one of the most feared government agencies. All over the nation, thousands upon thousands of children have been removed from good homes because the parents were not raising them “correctly”.
You can read about one particularly bad CPS horror story right here.
#22 Under Adolf Hitler, society became very highly militarized.
Of course we are seeing the same thing in the U.S. right now.
Sadly, this is even happening to our public schools. According to blogger Alexander Higgins, students in kindergarten and the 1st grade in the state of New Jersey are now required by law to participate “in monthly anti-terrorism drills”. The following is an excerpt from a letter that he recently received from the school where his child attends….
Each month a school must conduct one fire drill and one security drill which may be a lockdown, bomb threat, evacuation, active shooter, or shelter-in place drill. All schools are now required by law to implement this procedure.
This is the kind of thing that a sicko like Adolf Hitler would try to do, and it is not good for our children.
#23 In Nazi Germany, the prisons were absolutely packed.
Right now, the United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world by far and the largest total prison population on the entire globe by far.
Even children are being arrested in alarming numbers. In a previous article, I described how one 12-year-old girl down in Texas was recently arrested for spraying herself with perfume and how police were recently sent out to collect an overdue library book from a 5-year-old girl in Massachusetts.
#24 Under Adolf Hitler, there was basically no freedom of speech.
In the United States today we are told that we still have freedom of speech, but that freedom is being “chilled” in thousands of different ways.
For example, the FBI is now admittedly recording Internet talk radio programs all over the United States. The following comes from a recent article by Mark Weaver of WMAL.com….
If you call a radio talk show and get on the air, you might be recorded by the FBI.
The FBI has awarded a $524,927 contract to a Virginia company to record as much radio news and talk programming as it can find on the Internet.
The FBI says it is not playing big brother by policing the airwaves, but rather seeking access to what airs as potential evidence.
So please speak freely on talk radio. Just realize that the feds will be recording every single word.
#25 Under Adolf Hitler, paranoia was standard operating procedure.
In Nazi Germany, every citizen was a potential threat and everyone had to be constantly watched for suspicious activity.
Of course the exact same thing is happening in America today. Just about anything you do can get you labeled as a “potential terrorist” by the government.
According to a new DHS report, the following are some of the beliefs and ideologies of potential terrorists….
-“fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation)”
-“anti-global”
-“suspicious of centralized federal authority”
-“reverent of individual liberty”
-“believe in conspiracy theories”
-“a belief that one’s personal and/or national “way of life” is under attack”
-“a belief in the need to be prepared for an attack either by participating in paramilitary preparations and training or survivalism”
-“impose strict religious tenets or laws on society (fundamentalists)”
-“insert religion into the political sphere”
-“those who seek to politicize religion”
-“supported political movements for autonomy”
-“anti-abortion”
-“anti-Catholic”
-“anti-nuclear”
And the definition of “suspicious activity” has become so broad in America that it pretty much covers 100% of us. In 2012, the following activities are considered to be “suspicious” by the FBI….
-shielding your computer screen from others
-paying with cash
-acting “nervous”
-using multiple cell phones
-requesting a specific room at a hotel
-traveling with a large amount of luggage
-refusing maid service at a hotel
-staying in your room for too long
-changing your appearance
In addition, the U.S. government has decided that it would be a really good idea for all of us to spy on one another. The “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign looks like it could have been pulled right out of a Gestapo security handbook.
But America is not supposed to be about spying on one another and reporting each other to the secret police.
America is supposed to be about liberty and freedom.

The original “Clash of the Titans” film is still my favorite. The remake was watchable but it’s tough to recreate the wonder of a classic film. My favorite part of the original was the scene where Perseus steals the eye from the Stygian Witches. He uses the eye to barter for the information he needs to confront the Kraken. The mythical Stygian Witches, although they couldn’t see in front of them without the eye, had the ability to see portions of the future. Obviously, I do not have that ability, but it doesn’t take three witches with mythical powers to see that there are some troubled waters ahead for liberty and freedom if we don’t organize, vote, and fight back. (Note: I am not a glass-half-empty kind of guy, I’m just concerned and want to draw attention to the following items. Also, I recently penned a piece here at Conservative Review discussing a positive, conservative path forward which is right in front of us.)
Here are some troubling items that the conservative and libertarian movements need to watch with their collective eyes.

Colorado Single-Payer Healthcare

After the devastating failures of both the Obamacare exchanges and the Obamacare co-ops in the state of Colorado, one would think that far-left supporters of a heavy government footprint on our healthcare system would hang their heads in shame. Mass cancellations, double-digit premium hikes, and Obamacare exchange chaos would, with a modicum of honest media attention, sink bureaucratic medicine for good. But the far-left never sees their inevitable policy failures as roadblocks. They use their media allies to use the crises their unworkable policy “solutions” have created as invitations to double-down and introduce more of the government poison. That is what is happening in Colorado where a group of far-left activists have succeeded in getting a single-payer healthcare proposal on the 2016 ballot even after the abysmal performance of Obamacare in the state. It’s troubling how immune to reality the modern far-left has become. A similar single-payer initiative was tried in the deep-blue state of Vermont and, after the eye-opening numbers came in, and the new, elevated, confiscatory tax-rates to pay for the program were announced, even the liberal governor decided to scrap the plan.
The rest of the country will continue to see the system for what it is, a scam where the connected few live by a completely different set of rules.

Hillary Clinton, Eligible to be the President, but not Eligible to Protect the President

During my twelve years in the Secret Service I had the pleasure of working with some very talented and dedicated men and women. But occasionally, we would hire a rotten egg. When this happened, and the subpar agent inevitably did something wrong, he or she would lose security clearance. This was the preferred method to rid the Secret Service of below average performers, because having an active security clearance was a prerequisite for continued employment. Upon losing it the agent would typically “resign,” realizing he or she would be fired eventually for losing the clearance.
Now that we know that Hillary Clinton shared multiple emails deemed classified and put our national security at risk, how do you think the Secret Service agents and the thousands of U.S. federal agents who had to pass rigorous background checks to obtain their security clearances are going to feel knowing they are working for a woman who couldn’t even pass a basic background check? There’s no popular electoral mandate strong enough to wipe the stain of Mrs. Clinton’s shameful actions from the tarnished office of the presidency if she wins this election. Our already broken bond with government will fracture further as the Clinton acolytes ignore her immoral, unethical, and potentially criminal actions in their thirst to obtain political power by proxy. The rest of the country will continue to see the system for what it is, a scam where the connected few live by a completely different set of rules.

Playing Word Games with Terror

The social media and 24-hour cable news era has enabled spineless politicians, looking to leverage even the most horrific of tragedies for perceived political advantage, to immediately embarrass themselves when tragic news breaks. Politicizing tragedies such as the San Bernardino terrorist attacks is becoming standard fare for the increasingly radical far left. They realize that President Obama’s broken counter-terrorism strategy and unusual focus on intercepting a mass Islamophobia movement which never materializes, is failing to resonate with a security-minded American public. As a result, the far left sensed a need to change the conversation. In conjunction with their media allies they successfully ensured that the San Bernardino terror attacks were characterized in the media as a “mass shooting.” While this is technically accurate, why didn’t the media and the administration refer to the Boston Marathon Bombing as a “mass bombing”? The answer: Because the far-left wants the media, and you, to refocus on firearms, not terrorism, so that they can push to disarm Americans through confiscatory regulation.
I’m optimistic about tomorrow. I’m convinced that the 2016 elections are an opportunity to turn the liberty train back in the right direction. But the three aforementioned items need your special attention in this ongoing fight. One (single-payer in Colorado) because of the far left’s never-ending drive to double down on policy failures, another (Hillary Clinton’s email scandal) because of the potential to further destabilize the already fragile citizen-government relationship, and the third (the left’s rhetorical manipulation) because you need to be aware of the dangers of allowing the left to control the language, and by default, control the narrative.

From Within

December 12, 2015

By any measure, we are losing the war against ISIS and radical Islam. A bigger problem is we do not yet realize we are losing or why. Their legions are growing, their ambitions are apocalyptic, and our resolve is as strong as silly putty.
Without question, our military is superior to any other on earth and we could inflict devastating damage to ISIS if we unleashed our military forces against them. But we are not going to do that—not today, not next month and not after the next atrocity strikes Cleveland, Phoenix or Richmond.
We have a President and his designated replacement-in-waiting who think “climate change” is a greater threat than Islamists with nuclear weapons, and that the way to defeat squads of suicide bombers is to welcome their brothers, sisters and cousins as our neighbors and give them the right to vote.

But we have a deeper problem than our commander in chief being AWOL. If you ask yourself how he can get away with never uttering the words “radical Islam,” then you might begin uncovering the deeper problem: Obama is not alone in willfully avoiding the truth about an enemy sworn to our destruction. He has many accomplices and coconspirators.

If we are honest we must face a very dark and sobering fact: The outcome of this war is far from certain. We are proud of being a nation of can-do optimists, but we are also a nation in denial about a culture in a tailspin.
The real enemy is not “over there” in Syria and Iraq, or in Paris or London. The enemy is already here in our homeland, and I am not speaking of terrorist cells, Syrian refugees, or radical imams. I am speaking of the accelerating rot in our own culture.

Our secular culture is adrift in a sea of relativism, escapism, and self-indulgent inanities, with our media and entertainment elites leading the parade.
“Where were you, Daddy, when we were waging the war on terror?” Oh, well, I was watching reality TV. On TV, the good guys always defeat the bad guys. And I can always change the channel.

In this besotted condition, we are ill equipped to fight an enemy full of passion, idealism and self-confidence. Islamist suicide bombers believe they are dying for a higher purpose, the greater glory of Allah. What, exactly, are our ideals? The freedom to enjoy pornography and polygamy and 24-hour pizza delivery?
The war with ISIS and its Islamist allies is what historian Samuel P. Huntington called a “clash of civilizations” in a book by that title in 1996.

Tocqueville warned us 200 years ago that we would never be defeated by an invader, but we could abandon liberty by adopting a “soft tyranny” of democratic corruption.

The early 20th century economist Joseph Schumpeter gave a similar warning about the inevitable corruption of morals that comes with capitalism’s triumph. If everything is permitted in an open marketplace, higher values will be replaced by cheaper ones— and there is no principle within pure capitalism to halt that cultural degeneration.

Then in our generation, along comes “multiculturalism” to teach that there are no superior cultures, only different ones. Witchcraft is as much a legitimate personal religion as Christianity or Buddhism if that is what turns you on, and polygamy is just another “lifestyle” with its own cable TV channel.
The great Russian novelist Alexandr Solzhenitsyn saw this deepening hollowness in the West as a global development spanning five centuries, with Soviet Communism only a symptom of lost souls. In his Templeton Lecture in 1983, long before the rise of radical Islam, he warned:
It has become embarrassing to state that evil makes its home in the individual human heart before it enters a political system. Yet it is not considered shameful to make dally concessions to an integral evil. Judging by the continuing landslide of concessions made before the eyes of our very own generation, the West is ineluctably slipping toward the abyss.
ISIS and radical Islam have declared war on us not because of anything we have done—not because we are a friend to Israel and not because we have not yet toppled the bloody Syrian dictator Assad. ISIS and radical Islamists hate us for who we are. The irony is, we ourselves do not know who we are.
The Chinese philosopher Sun Tsu said it best in The Art of War:
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
ISIS hates the West as an abominable nest of infidels, infidels who reject the Quran and Shariah Law, and so must be annihilated. We are the obstacle to the new Caliphate. OKAY— got it: We stand against the Caliphate. But what do we stand for? What is our alternative ideal to the Islamist ideal? Those happy optimists who think this is a largely academic question should consider the generational dimension to cultural identities and dissatisfactions.
While radical Islam may indeed hold little attraction for the large majority of Muslim immigrants and refugees now relocating in Europe and America, it will be different matter for thousands of their children. The mastermind behind the Paris terror attack was the son of successful, fully assimilated Moroccan immigrants.

A growing number of reliable public opinion polls of Muslim populations (Pew, Gallup, Rasmussen, among others) reveal that 13% to 32% of Muslims have a positive view of ISIS — as do 17% of Syrian refugees.

So, it is both reasonable and prudent to ask ourselves — what percentage of the children of several million Muslim migrants will choose the values of our ascendant secular hedonism over the allure of “true Islam”? One percent of two million is 20,000 potential jihadists.
Radical Islam’s principles are out there for all to see if they open their eyes. But what are our principles? In truth, they are up for grabs.

Quote

December 10, 2015

There are many kinds of success in life worth having. It is exceedingly interesting and attractive to be a successful business man, or railroad man, or farmer, or a President, or a ranchman, or the colonel of a fighting regiment, or to kill grizzly bears and lions. But for unflagging interest and enjoyment, a household of children, if things go reasonably well, certainly makes all other forms of success and achievement lose their importance by comparison.”—Theodore Roosevelt, Autobiography, 1913

Watch Out!

December 7, 2015

“The so-called war on terror, the surveillance state, the security state and oppressive gun laws are nothing more than feckless distractions designed to give the illusion of safety while your liberties are stolen from you one by one.”

Coming Judgment

December 6, 2015

5 This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering-6 since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

7 and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels

8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.

9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

10 when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.
– 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10
